We don't do fashion like anyone else does fashion
At the age of 21 I arrived in India for the first time, since the age of 7 I had dreamed about it. Since then, this country has been an integral part of me. It fascinates me, challenges me, jostles me, I learn about myself and about human nature here. Ihave surveyed many villages here for my job, that of a social worker. This is where I feel most welcomed and the most at peace. During my many trips to the villages and through my interviews, I became aware of the great desire and willingness of women to have something for themselves, to gain economic independence, to create an individual identity. I also met tribal artists there, who are little or not recognized enough. In short, India is my homeland. I have lived there for more than 5 years now.
The Company
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit.
OMAHI is the consecration of all these observations. The desire to support village women
by working directly with them- either by training them directly or by working
with associations. But also the desire to shed light on types of crafts, little known by people, and to support artists by the exploration of new creative media. As a person coming from the social development studies background, the support and training of rural women is for me as important as the creation of new artistique products.
Living in the villages, alongside its inhabitants, has always seemed simpler, more organic,….I want the creations offered by OMAHI to tell stories from there, not only through local symbolism used in the creations, but also through the involvement, commitment and advancement of each craftsman who contributes to these creations.
Telling stories and creating new ones is one of OMAHI’s ambitions. In fact, 5% of each
sale goes to the ‘banyan tree support house’ in India. The support house currently welcomes 15 young girls between 6 and 18 years old from precarious socio-economic backgrounds. Those responsible for this place offer them a structured, secure space where they can live happily and learn. But more than that, the support house is there to support these girls to be independent , confident, aware and autonomous.
