8% of the Indian population is of tribal origin, these are more than 100 million people spread over more than 10% of the territory of india. They are the ‘Adivasi’, literally the original inhabitants ,this word corresponds to the indigenous people of India. The Adivasi are originally animists and out of social castes, were the first inhabitants to populate the Indian subcontinent long before the arrival of other groups of people.
